We are now looking for two teaching assistants for the position of math coach for spring 2026.

Your responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a math coach will involve being available via chat from 5 PM to 8 PM, Monday to Thursday, during evenings when many students are doing homework or studying for exams. You can choose which evenings and how often you work, and you will receive special training in online tutoring and in using our teaching tools.

Work with social media will be included.

Your qualifications

To be employed as a teaching assistant, you must be admitted to a higher education program at the undergraduate or advanced level.

You should have an ongoing teacher education program with a focus on mathematics and good academic results, particularly in mathematics courses, and be able to tutor mathematics in Swedish for students in elementary school up to Mathematics 5 in high school.

Previous experience as a math coach and working with social media is an advantage.

Your workplace

You will work as a math coach within the “Math Coach Online” initiative, a chat service offering free math tutoring to elementary and high school students in the evenings. Our coaches are future subject teachers with mathematics as one of their subjects. Math Coach Online complements school education and is a collaboration between KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Linköping University, Chalmers University of Technology, and the University of Edinburgh. You will work at the Department of Analysis and Didactics (ANDI), Mathematical Sciences. Mathematics is fundamental to modern natural science and technology, but it is also a distinct field of study. Research and education at the department encompass a wide range of areas, from pure mathematics and scientifically generated problems to applications in technology, natural sciences, economics, and subject didactics. ANDI conducts both basic and applied research in various branches of analysis and mathematics didactics.

About the position

The position is for the spring semester of 2026 and may be extended. You have the opportunity to work one to four evenings per month, and the extent of employment will be regulated by agreement with the operational manager Daniel Carlsson.

Employment as a teaching assistant can never exceed 50 percent of a full-time position.

Employment as a teaching assistant is regulated in Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance.

Start date as soon as possible.
